Answer for question 5.

Limitations of Newland's Law of Octaves:

1.Newland could arrange elements only up to calcium, out of the total 56 elements known.

After calcium, every eighth element did not possess properties similar to that of the first.

Only 56 elements were known at the time of Newlands, but later several elements were discovered.

2.He named them Eka-Boron, Eka-Aluminium and Eka-silicone He also predicted the properties of these undiscovered elements including atomic masses. These elements were discovered as Sc ,Ga and Ge with same features as he predicted. 4. Mendeleev's arrangement helped to correct atomic masses of a number of elements.

Q5

1.The major limitations of Newlands' law of octaves were : (i) It was applicable to only lighter elements having atomic masses upto 40 u, i.e., upto calcium. ... But later on several new elements were discovered whose properties did not fit into the law of octaves.

2.Merits of Mendeleev's periodic table : Mendeleev's periodic table was one of the greatest achievements in the development of chemistry. ... (B) Correction of atomic masses : The mendeleev's periodic table could predict errors in the atomic masses of certain elements were corrected.

Q6. The periodic table, also known as the periodic table of elements, is a tabular display of the chemical elements, which are arranged by atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties. ... The seven rows of the table, called periods, generally have metals on the left and non-metals on the right.
