class 10th maths triangles chapter question
given is
DE is parallel to BC
then prove that AD/AB = AE/AC

Given: DE parallel to BC
RTP: AD÷AB = AE÷AC
PROOF
In triangle ABC and triangle ADE
DE IS PARALLEL TO BC
ANGLE ADE =ANGLE ABC (corresponding angles)
ANGLE DAE = ANGLE BAC ( common)
BY A. A criteria
ADE ~ ABC
As the triangles are similar their sides are proportional
AD/AB=DE/BC=AE/AC
From above eq. We get
AD/AB = AE/AC
(Hence proved)
