= 24 - 15
= 9 m
=> AC = Hypotenuse
=> CE = Perpendicular
=> AE = Base
=> Hypotenuse^2 = Perpendicular^2 + Base^2
=> (AC)^2 = (CE)^2 + (AE)^2
=> (AE)^2 = (AC)^2 - (CE)^2
=> (AE)^2 = 15^2 - 9^2
=> (AE)^2 = 225 - 81
=> (AE)^2 = 144
=> AE = √(144)
=> AE = 12
AE = BD
The shortest Distance between them is 12 m.
