Let the length of rectangular plot be x m.

Now, perimeter of square plot = 4 × 40 m = 160 m

and perimeter of rectangular plot = 2(x+25) m

According to the given condition,

Perimeter of square = perimeter of rectangle

⇒ 2(x+25) = 160

⇒ x+25 = 80

⇒ x = 55 m

Clearly, 55m > 40 m , so the length of rectangular plot is larger than square plot by, 55m - 40m = 15m

Given : 2 plots having equal perimeter .

1 st is square shape side 60 m

2 nd is retagular shape breadth 1.5 dam

To find : greater plot ?

Method : According to given data

perimeter is same of both the plots

then compare it

perimeter of square = perimeter of

rectangle

side × 4 = 2 ( lb+ bh+ hl )

60 ×4 = 2 ( l × 1.5 + 1.5 × h + h l)
