Q2) Sol.

Let the two positive integers be x,y

x+y=51

y=51-x

Now,

y/x=4

(51-x)/x=4

51-x=4x

51=4x+x

5x=51

x=51/5

x=10.2

y=51-x=51-10.2=40.8

Q3) Sol.

Let the denominator be x

numerator=(x-8)

(x-8)-1/x+17=3/2

x-7/x+17=3/2

2(x-7)=3(x+17)

2x-14=3x+51

-14-51=3x-2x

x=-65

numerator=x=-65

denominator=x-8=-65-8=-73

rational no.=numerator/denominator=-65/-73=65/73

Q4) Sol.

Let numerator be x

denominator=x+3

x+1/x+4=1/2

2(x+1)=1(x+4)

2x+2=x+4

2x-x=4-2

x=2

numerator=x=2

denominator=x+3=2+3=5

rational no.=numerator/denominator=2/5
