Collenchyma

It consists of thin-walled living cells.

They are the chief mechanical tissue in young plants, particularly dicot stems.

Comprises of uneven cell wall and is made up of pectin and hemicellulose.

Sclerenchyma

It consists of dead cells.

It is mainly a mechanical tissue.

Comprises of hard and thick cell wall and is made up of the lignin.
