- There is mainly two social groups in Sri Lanka, the Sinhala speakers and Tamil speaker. The Sinhala speaking people constitute about 74 % population and Tamil speaking people constitute 13 % of population. Tamil speakers can be further divided into Indian Tamils and Sri Lankan Tamils.
