Given x + y = 5√2 ; xy = 15

we know that ,

 {( a + b)}^{2} = {a }^{2} + {b}^{2} + 2ab

substituting in that formula ,we get

 {(x + y)}^{2} = {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} + 2xy

 {(5 \sqrt{2)} }^{2} = {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} + 2(15)

25 \times 2 = {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} + 30

 {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} = 50 - 30

So,

 {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} = 20
