\Large{\underbrace{\sf{\orange{Required\:Solution:}}}}

(a) 2α + 3b - 5c from 5α - b - c

Sol'n. (5α - b - c) - (2α + 3b - 5c)

  • Open the brackets and multiply (-) with the 2nd bracket.

\longrightarrow 5α - b - c - 2α - 3b + 5c

  • subtract the terms with same variables.

\longrightarrow 5α - 2α -b - 3b - c + 5c

\large\implies{\boxed{\sf{\orange{3α - 4b + 4c}}}}

__________

(b) x³ - 3x² + x - 5 from 1 - 7x^4 - 2x

Sol'n. \displaystyle{\sf{(1-7x^{4}-2x)-(x^{3}-3x^{2}+x-5)}}

  • Open the brackets and multiply the (-) sign over the second bracket.

\longrightarrow{\sf{1-7x^{4}-2x-x^{3}+3x^{2}-x+5}}

  • Subtract the terms having same variable and exponents.

\longrightarrow{\sf{-7x^{4}-2x-x-x^{3}+3x^{2}+5+1}}

\large\implies{\boxed{\sf{\orange{-7x^{4}-3x-x^{3}+3x^{2}+6}}}}

___________

(c) p²q - pq² + 3p - q from 5p - 2q - p²q - pq²

Sol'n. \displaystyle{\sf{(5p-2q-p^{2}q-pq^{2})-(p^{2}q-pq^{2}+3p-q)}}

  • Open the brackets and multiply the (-) sign over the second bracket.

\longrightarrow{\sf{5p-2q-p^{2}q-pq^{2}-p^{2}q+pq^{2}-3p+q}}

  • Subtract the terms having same variable and exponents.

\longrightarrow{\sf{5p-3p-2q+q-p^{2}q+p^{2}q-pq^{2}+pq^{2}}}

\large\implies{\boxed{\sf{\orange{2p-q}}}}
