Given:-

  • Mass of bullet is 15g.
  • Velocity of bullet is 120m/s.
  • Recoil velocity of gun is 1m/s.

To Find:-

  • The mass of the gun.

Concept Used:-

We will make use of law of conservation of momentum which is mathematically stated as :

The three equⁿs of motion are

  • v = u + at.
  • s = ut + ½at².

When a body is projected with initial velocity u then the maximum height achieved is : /2g .

When a body is dropped from a certain height then the velocity attained after covering a distance of h is : 2gh .

Time of ascent is given by : [2h/g]

Time of a cent is equal to time of descent when air friction is neglected and equals to : u/g .

Momentum of a body is given by product of mass and velocity : p = mv .
