angle ADB = angle CAB (both 90)

angle CBA = angle DBA (common)

so Δ ABD~ΔCBA

therefore,

ar(CAB)/ar(ABD) = AB^2/BC^2

implies that,

ar(CAB)/ar(ABD) = 9/25

now area of Δ CAB = 0.5 x base x height

= 0.5 x 3 x 4

= 6 cm^2

therefore putting values-

6/ar(ABD) = 9/25

ar(ABD) = 6 x 25/9

ar(ABD) = 50/3 cm^2
