Now for y=x+1, slope=1, so, ∠BAC=tan−1(1)=45∘

and for y=3x−1 slope=3, so, ∠BAC=tan−1(3)=60∘

Using the external angle property in triangle ABC we get,

∠BAC=∠ABC=∠BCX⟹45∘+θ=60∘⟹θ=15∘
