Let x be the measure of the third side

The sum of any two sides of a triangle is always GREATER than the third side.

This is the property we are going to apply in this question.

From the statement itself, we can arrive at the conclusion that

x < 4+6

x < 10 cm

x is less than 10 cm.

We also get the observation

x+4 > 6

  OR

x > 6-4

x > 2

So x is always greater than 2 cm

So x must lie between 2 cm and 10 cm (2 < x < 10)

That is, the third side must lie between 2 cm and 10 cm
