Answer:

a) 1A & 1.5A. b) 4Ω. c) 12V

Explanation:

since B & C in parallel their currents in inversion proportion

Ib : Ic = Rc : Rb

0.5 : Ic = 3 : 6

Ic = 0.5 × 6 /3

a) Ic = 1A

but....

Ib + Ic = 0.5 + 1 = 1.5

now since..

Ia & Ib-Ic in series theis currents are equal

hence....

Ia = Ib + Ic = 1.5A

1/R' = 1/Rb + 1/Rc = 1/3 + 1/6 = 1/2

R' = 2Ω

R = R' + 2 = 2 + 2 = 4

b) R = 4Ω

now.....

I = Ia + Ib +Ic

I = 1.5 + 0.5 + 1

I = 3A

but.....

V = RI

V = 4 × 3

c) V = 12V
