Fare for subsequent kilometre=rupees 5

Total did covered = X km; total fare= rupees y .

* y=8+5(x-1)

y=8+5x-5

y= 5x+3 is the required linear equation or 5x-y+3=0

Put X=0,then

5(0)+3.

y= 0+3

y=3

Put X=1,then

5(1)+3

y=5+3

y=8

Put X=2,then

5(2)+3

y=10+3

y=13.
