Let a = side of the cube
L, B, H = Length, Breadth and Height of the cuboid
Then,
Surface area of the cube = 6 x a x a = 216
Solving, a = √216/6 = √36 = 6

So L = 2a = 12 and B = a = 6
Surface area of the cuboid = 2(LB + BH + HL) = 216
∴ 2(2a^2 + aH + 2HL) = 216
Solving for H: H = a/3 = 2

So volume of the cuboid = 12 x 6 x 2 = 144
Volume of the cube = 6 x 6 x 6 = 216

Thus the difference is volumes = 216 - 144 = 72 cm^3
