Given Any point D is taken on the side BC of triangle ABC and AD is produced to E such that AD=DE,prove that the area of triangle BCE = area of triangle ABC

To prove: area of ΔABC = area of ΔBCE

In Δ ABE, AE is the side and BD is the median.

area of ΔBED = area of ΔBAD.

In ΔACE, AE is the side and CD is the median.

Now area of ΔACD = area of ΔECD

here two triangles of equal areas divides the median of a triangle.

Now we compare both the areas

So area of ΔECD + ΔBED = ΔBAD + ΔACD

Therefore area of ΔABC = area of ΔBEC
