1. A beam of light passes from air to a medium X. If the angle of incidence is 45° and angle ofrefraction is 30°, calculate the refractive index of X.

Ans :- If angle of incidence is 45 degrees and angle of refraction is 30 degrees calculate the refractive index of substance x. Given: sin30 degrees =1/2 and sin45° = 1/√2.

2. The refractive index of glass with respect to air is 1.5. What will be the refractive index of air with respect to glass?

Ans :- 0.67

(refractive index of glass with respect to air)×(refractive index of air with respect to glass)=1 . this is normally thought in your class 9or 10. so refractive index of air with respect to glass=1/1.5 =0.67.
