Question :

  • A vegetable seller bought 150 kg of tomatoes at ₹6 per kg. He sold 100 kg for ₹6.50 per kg and then remaining for ₹5.80 per kg. Find his net gain or loss.

Given :

  • A vegetable seller bought 150 kg of tomatoes at ₹6 per kg.
  • He sold 100 kg for ₹6.50 per kg.
  • He sold remaining for ₹5.80 per kg.

To Find :

  • Net gain or loss.

Solution :-

Cost of 1 kg of tomatoes = ₹6

Cost of 150 kg of tomatoes = ₹(6×150)= ₹900

CP = 900

________________

In First Selling :

Cost of 1 kg of tomatoes = ₹6.50

Cost of 100 kg of tomatoes = ₹(6.50×100) = ₹650

In Second Selling :

Remaining tomatoes = (150-100) kg = 50 kg

Cost of 1 kg of tomatoes = ₹5.80

Cost of 50 kg of tomatoes = ₹(5.80×50)= ₹290

__________________

Total SP = ₹(650+290)=₹940

∴SP = 940

SP is greater than CP, there is a gain .

Gain = SP-CP

⟹Gain = SP-CP

⟹ Gain= ₹(940-900)

⟹Gain=₹40

Net gain = 40.
