speed is the distance covered per unit time

while velocity is total displacement per unit time

average speed = total distance covered / total time taken

= 180m / 60s

= 3 m/s

average velocity = total displacement / total time taken

here she goes to the other side of the pool and comes back to the same place, so she went from initial point to the initial point which means displacement is zero.

= 0m / 60s

= 0 m/s
