p(x) = 3 {x}^{2}  - 9 \\  \\ p(a +  \frac{1}{a} ) = 3 {(a +  \frac{1}{a} )}^{2}  - 9 \\  \\  = 3( {a}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {a}^{2} }  + 2) - 9 \\  \\ 3( {a}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {a}^{2} }  - 1)

p(2) = 3 {(2)}^{2}  - 9 \\  \\  = 12 - 9 \\  \\  = 3
