ANSWER....

3x + y = 4 \\  \\ 2x - y = 6 \\  \\ add \: both.... \\  \\ 5x = 10 \\ x = 2 \\  \\ put \: x = 2 \: in \: one \: of \: the \: equation \\  \\ 2(2) - y = 6 \\  \\ 4 - y = 6 \\  \\ y =  - 2

METHOD II

3x + y = 4 ......eq(1)\\  \\ 2x - y = 6.....(2) \\  \\ from \: eq(2) \\ we \: get \: y = 2x - 6 \\  \\ put \: this \: in \: eq(1) \\  \\ 3x + 2x - 6 = 4 \\  \\ 5x = 10 \\  \\ x = 2 \\  \\ y = 2(2) - 6 \\  \\ y =  - 2

Answer:

x= 2 and y= 2/3

Step-by-step explanation:

3x + y = 4...............(1)

2x - y = 6...............(2)

(1)+(2)

3x + y =4

+ 2x - y= 6

5x = 10

x= 5/ 10

x= 2

x= 2 put in equation no. (1)

3(2)+y=4

6+y =4

y= 4/6

y= 2/3.

ans. x=2 and y= 2/3
