Let the first number = x
Let the second number = y

Adding 21 with the first number gives twice of the second number

So, the first equation is --

x + 21 = 2y ------ (1)

Adding 12 with the second number gives twice of the first number

y + 12 = 2x -------- (2)

x + 21 = 2y ------- (1)
or, 2y = x + 21
or, 2y - x = 21 ------- (3)

y + 12 = 2x ------ (2)
or, 2x = y+ 12
or, -y + 2x = 12 ------- (4)

Multiplying (3) with 1 and (4) with 2, we get --

2y - x = 21
-2y +4x = 24
--------------------
3x = 45
or, x = 15

Putting x = 15 in (3)

2y - x = 21
or, 2y - 15 = 21
or, 2y = 36
or, y = 18

The numbers are 15 and 18. (Ans)

[We can check if the answers are correct!

Adding 21 with first number = 21 + 15 = 36, which is the twice of second number.

Again, adding 12 with second number = 18 + 12 = 30, which is the twice of the first number]

I solved the equations using Method Of Elimination, but you can solve using any process.
