y^2 +1/y^2 =14 , find y^3 + 1/y^3

(y)^2 + (1/y)^2 +2×y×1/y=14 +2×y×1/y

(y + 1/y)^2 = 14+2

(y + 1/y)^2 = 16

y + 1/y = 4

y^3 + 1/y^3 = (y + 1/y)^3 -3×y×1/y(y + 1/y)

= (4)^3 -3×4

= 64 -12

= 52 is the answer
