Answer:

Surface area = 616 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given---> Rectangular sheet of paper of

dimension of 44cm × 14cm is rolled

along its length and a cylinder is formed

To find ---> Surface area of cylinder

formed

Solution---> Length of sheet = 44 cm

Breadth of sheet = 14 cm

Sheet is rolled along length and cylinder is formed

So circumference of cylinder = Length of

sheet

2 π r = 44

r = 44 / 2 π

r = 44 × 7 / 2 × 22

r = 44 × 7 / 44

r = 7 cm

Height of cylinder formed = Breadth of

sheet

h = 14 cm

Cylinder formed is hollow so surface area of cylinder is equal to curved surface area of cylinder

Surface area of cylinder formed = Curved

surface area of cylinder

= 2 π r h

= 2 ×( 22/7 ) × ( 7 ) × 14

= 2 × 22 × 14

= 616 cm²

Additional information--->

1) Volume of cylinder = π r² h

2) Total surface area = 2πr (r + h )

3) area of base of cylinder = π r²
