Firstly we will find the common potential after joining of the two capacitors by formula

(c1v1 + c2v2) \div (c1 + c2)

Put c1 and c2 =600pf and v1=200 and v2=0

Which will be 100 volts and the capacitance after joining will be 300pf

Now the loss in energy will be

Ei-Ef

Ei=1/2×600×40000=12×10^{-6}

Ef=1/2×300×10000=1.5×10^{-6}

E=10.5×10^{-6}
