1) KMnO4 is an oxidising agent and it oxidises FeSO4

In KMnO4 , the ox.no of Mn is +7 (which is the max for 3d block elements) so it cannot be further oxidised. Whereas Fe+2 in FeSO4 can be oxidised to Fe+3

In acidic medium, KMnO4 oxidises FeSO4 into Fe2(SO4)3.
