Answer:

i) Given monthly salary = 6000

Items on which he has to spend more than 1000/-

  • A + B + C + D + E = 30 + 15 +10+30+15= 100

  • A = 30 / 100 * 6000 = 1800
  • B = 15 /100 * 6000 = 900
  • C = 10 /100 * 6000 = 600
  • D = 30 / 100 * 6000 = 1800
  • E = 15 /100 * 6000 = 900

So no of items he needs to spend more than 6000 = 2 items

ii) Expenditure on food =

  • As A represents food
  • A = 30 / 100 * 6000 = 1800
  • Expenditure on food = 1800

iii) If monthly expenditure on cloth is 1500

as per our data his monthly expenditure is

  • B = 15 /100 * 6000 = 900
  • B = 15/100 * x = 1500
  • 15X = 1500*100
  • X = 1500* 100
  • 15
  • x = 10,000 would be his new salary

Verification = 15/100 * 10000 = 1500
