The layer below the crust is called the mantle and is 1,800 miles deep. It consists of rock which, under the influence of increased pressure and temperatures ranging from 1,600 to 4,000 F, is molten with slow-moving currents. Movement in the mantle layer is the cause of volcanic activity and earthquakes.

If the crust temperature rises near to that of mantle then there will be no existence of life on Earth. The mantle is located below the crust and it's temperature is very high in comparison of crust. All the volcanic material which comes out of a volcano during eruption is located in the mantle layer. In short, if this happens earth will be not habitable.
