answer

water is a compound , made of hydrogen and oxygen . it is a universal solvent for any solute in the world and useful for the various life processes in human body .

however , the density of water is 1.00g/cm .only those compounds can dissolve or sink in the water whose density is relatively greater than 1.00g/cm.

this clearly shows that a body having a relative density of 1.2g/cm can sink in the water instead of body with a density of 0.8g/cm , because it has less density than the water.
