put the value of A in eq.
A + B = 90°
2B + B = 90°
3B = 90°
B = 30°
if B = A/2 then
A +A/2 = 90°
(2A + A)/2 = 90°

A = 60°
put the values of A and B in main equation.
=cos^2A + sin^2B
=cos^2(60° )+ sin^2 (30°)
=(1/2)^2 + (1/2)^2
=1/4 +1/4
=2/4
= 1/2
