so, -3/8*x=-9/16
x=-9/16/-3/8then,x=3/2

Other number is -3/8 (given)

So, the equation will be :
x \times  \frac{ - 3}{8}  =  -  \frac{9}{16}  \\  \\  \frac{ - 3x}{8}  =  \frac{ - 9}{16}  \\  \\  - 3x =  \frac{ - 9}{16}  \times 8 \\  \\  - 3x =  \frac{ - 9}{2}  \\  \\ x =  \frac{ - 9}{2 \times  - 3}  \\  \\ x =  \frac{3}{2}

So, the first number is 3/2.
