Solution:-

Given:-

  • Polynomial :- ( x⁴ - x³ - 11x² -x + a)
  • ( x + 3) is the Factor of the Given Polynomial.

To Find:-

  • Value of a = ?

Find:-

( x + 3 ) is the Factor.

=) x + 3 = 0

=) x = -3

P(x) = x⁴ - x³ - 11x² -x + a

=) P(-3) = (-3)⁴ - (-3)³ -11 (-3)² -(-3) + a

=) 0 = 81 - ( -27) -11 (9) + 3 + a

=) 0 = 81 + 27 - 99 + 3 + a

=) a = 99 - 81 - 30

=) a = -12

Hence,

a takes the value of (-12).
