Let the price of chairs be x and table be y .

ATQ.

4x + 4y = 210 ___(i)

Also,

5x + 2y = 175 ___(ii)

Multiplying equation (ii) by 2 and then subtracting it from (i) :

  4x  + 4y  =  210

±10x  ± 4y = ±350

----------------------

-6x = - 140

x = 23.3 = 23 (approx.)

Putting the value of x in (i) equation :

4(23) + 4y = 210

92 + 4y = 210

4y = 210 - 92

y = 118 / 4

y = 29.5
