x^2-y^2=1. i
x^2+y^2=8 ii. (adding)
2x^2=9
sq root both sides
√2x=3
x= 3/√2
x=3/√2 ×√2/√2
x=3√2/2

putting x=3√2/2 in eq I
18/4 - y^2= 1
y^2=18/4-1
=14/4
y= √(14/4)
y=√14/2

so, x+y= 3√2/2+ √14/2=3√2+√14/ 2
x-y= 3√2- √14/2
xy= 3√2× √14/ 2×2
=6√7/4

Answer:

x^2-y^2=1. i

x^2+y^2=8 ii. (adding)

2x^2=9

sq root both sides

√2x=3

x= 3/√2

x=3/√2 ×√2/√2

x=3√2/2

putting x=3√2/2 in eq I

18/4 - y^2= 1

y^2=18/4-1

=14/4

y= √(14/4)

y=√14/2

so, x+y= 3√2/2+ √14/2=3√2+√14/ 2

x-y= 3√2- √14/2

xy= 3√2× √14/ 2×2

=6√7/4
