QUESTION:

1) If \sqrt{x}/16= 5/8, then find the value of x

2) If \sqrt{256} × 4² = x, then find the value of x

ANSWER:

1) x = 900

2) x = 256

GIVEN:

1) \sqrt{x}/16= 5/8

2) \sqrt{256} × 4² = x

TO FIND;

The value of x

EXPLANATION:

____________________________

1) Squaring on both sides we get

x/256 = 225/64

x = (225 × 256)/64

x = 225 × 4

x = 900

2) \sqrt{256} = 16

16 × 4² = x

16 × 16 = x

x = 256
