Ans 16 a) A homologous series is a series of organic compounds having similar chemical properties due to the presence of same functional group . The members of a homologous series are arranged in their increasing molar masses . Two consecutive members of homologous series differ by a - CH2- unit and a mass of 14 amu . The following table shows a homologous series wherein the members of the series are arranged in increasing order of their molar mass .
