Let the common ratio be x.

Given that the present age of one girl = 5x.

Given that the present age of the other girl = 7x.

8 years ago:

One girl age = 5x - 8

Other girl age = 7x - 8.

Given that their ratio = 7/13

 \frac{5x-8}{7x-8} = \frac{7}{13}

13(5x - 8) = 7(7x - 8)

65x - 104 = 49x - 56

65x = 49x + 48

16x = 48

x = 3.

The present age of one girl = 5 * 3 = 15 years.

The Present age of another girl = 7 * 3 = 21 years.

Hope this helps!
