\Green{\large\underline{\underline\mathtt{Given:}}} AD is the altitude, DB:CD = 3:1.

bc {}^{2}  = 2(ab {}^{2}  - ac {}^{2} )

In triangle ADB,

ad {}^{2}  = ab {}^{2}   - bd {}^{2}

In triangle ADC,

ad {}^{2}   = ac {}^{2}  - cd {}^{2}

From the above two equations,

ab { }^{2}  - bd {}^{2}  = ac {}^{2}  - cd {}^{2}

 =  > ab { }^{2}  - ac {}^{2}  = bd {}^{2}  - cd {}^{2}

 =  > (3 \div 4) {}^{2} bc {}^{2}  - (1 \div 4)bc {}^{2}

 = 1 \div 2bc {}^{2}

HENCE,{\boxed{2(AB^2 - AC^2 ) = BC ^2}}
