Given that A can dig a trench in 6 days.

Amount of work done by A in 1-day = (1/6).

(ii)

Given that B can dig it in 8 days.

Amount of work done by B in 1-day = (1/8).

Now,

Amount of work done by (A + B) in 1-day = (1/6) + (1/8)

⇒ 7/24.

(iii)

Share of A = (1/6) * (24/7)

                  = 4/7.

Share of B = (1/8) * (24/7)

                  = 3/7.

Given that they received 1120 for it.

Share of A = (4/7) * 1120

                  = 640.

Share of B = (3/7) * 1120

                  = 480.

Therefore:

⇒ Share of A = 640.

⇒ Share of B = 480.
