Image formation by a concave mirror when the object is not on the principal axis is defined below:

  • A concave mirror converges all the rays after reflecting them on its surface.
  • We will consider a point object that is above the principal axis as shown in the ray diagram attached below.
  • The rays from the object after being reflected by the mirror, converge at point A.
  • Point A is the position where the image is formed.
  • In the figure, O= object, f = focus, and C= center of curvature
