Step-by-step explanation:

let 1/x+y = a

let 1/x-y = b

According to question,

3a + 11b = 10 ......(i)

4a - 5b = 13 ......(ii)

LCM of 5 and 11 = 55

for making 11b = 55b, multiply by 5 in (i)

for making 5b = 55b, multiply by 11 in (ii)

(3a + 11b = 10) * 5 = 15a + 55b = 50 ......(iii)

(4a - 5b = 13) * 11 = 44a - 55b = 143 ......(iv)

add (iii) and (iv)

59a = 193

a= 193/59

putting value of a in (ii)

772/59 - 5b = 13

5b = 772/59 - 13

5b = 5/59

b = 1/59

we have assumed,

1/x+y = a

1/x+y = 193/59

193x + 193 y = 59 ......(v)

we have assumed,

1/x-y = b

1/x-y = 1/59

x-y = 59 ......... (vi)

for making 1y = 193 y, multiply by 193 in (vi)

193x - 193y = 11387

add( v )and (vi)

386x = 11446

x = 11446 / 386

x = 5723 / 193

putting value of x in (v)

5723 + 193y = 59

193y = 59 - 5723

193y = -5664

y = -5664/193

x = 5723 / 193

y = -5664 / 193
