Method: Radius=17
Length of 1st chord=16
Length of 2nd chord=30
The line drawn from the center to the chord is perpendicular and bisects the chord into 2 equal parts.
Also given both the chords are in the same side of the center.
So apply Pythagoras, (join center to ends of each chord): perpendicular dist from center to 1st chord = root(17^2 - 8^2) =15 
perpendicular dist from center to 2nd chord = root(17^2-15^2)=8     
Now dist b/w chords=15-8=7
