Answer:

1) The poet is talking about the animals.

2) The mankind is never satisfied with anything and put materialistic pleasures above everything . Even if they have everything they need to lead a leisure life , they have to have what the next person has. They are prideful and egoistic , they would never accept another humor or being superior to them . the poet also emphasizes that they not even kneel or be grateful to the people before them to whom they owe for their comfortable and peaceful life. The animals on the other hand are more happier than the human kind , they have no need for materialistic possessions. They are neither egoistic or prideful and know whom to kneel to and who is superior to them (Lion) . They never regret nor dwell on the past and spend their life happily and peacefully .

3) No, because each person feel that they are superior than others also they wouldn't kneel to people who lived before them as they would feel that they are better than them in many ways rather they would probably ask the latter to kneel to them !

It's a tad bit long but hope you like the answer!
