Explanation:

What is Momentum?

When any body which having mass and it is in motion in some velocity is known as Momentum.

Formula for Momentum:- p=mv

'p' stands for momentum

'm' stands for mass

'v' stands for velocity.

S.I. Unit for momentum is kg m/s.

S.I. Unit for mass is kg.

S.I. Unit for velocity is m/s.

1) Given:- Mass (m) of a Bullet = 25g

Velocity (v) of a Bullet = 0.1 m/s

To Calculate :- The Momentum (p) of a Bullet.

Calculation :- By using the formula for momentum,

p=mv -----[Formula]

Substituting the given values in the formula,

p= 25g × 0.1 m/s

= 25g × 1/10 m/s

= 2.5 g m/s

• • p = 2.5g m/s ----- Answer.

2) Given:- Mass (m) of a Lorry = 4000kg

and the mass (m) of goods loaded in it = 2000kg

Total mass (m) of a Lorry and goods = 4000kg + 20000kg = 24000kg

velocity (v) of a Lorry = 2m/s

To Calculate:- The momentum (p) of a Lorry.

Calculations:- By using the formula for momentum,

p = mv -- [Formula]

Substituting the given values in the formula,

p = 24,000 kg × 2 m/s

• • p = 48,000 kg m/s ----- Answer

3) Given:- mass (m) of a car = 1000 kg

velocity (v) of a car = 0.9 m/s

To Calculate:- The momentum of a Car.

Calculation:- By using the formula for momentum,

p = mv ----- [Formula]

p = 1000 kg × 0.9 m/s

p = 1000 kg × 9/10 m/s

p = 900 kg m/s ----- Answer
