write root 3 as a sum

1+2+2root2

use the commutative property to reorder the terms

1+2root2+2

using a^2+2ab+b^2=(a+b)^2

root(1+root2)^2

reduce the index of the radical and exponent with 2

1+root2

since 1+root2>0, the absolute value of 1+root2 is 1+root2

therefore, your answer is 1+root2.
