Answer:

a + b = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

2(√3 + √5 - √13 + √48) = √a + √b    ---- (i)

(ii)

√(13 + √48)

⇒ √(13 + 2 * 2 * √3)

⇒ √(1 + 2 * 2√3 * 1 + 12)

⇒ √(`1 + 2√3)²

⇒ 1 + 2√3

(iii)

√5 - (13 + √48)

⇒ √5 - (1 + 2√3)

⇒ √4 - 2√3

⇒ √(1 - √3)²

⇒ 1 - √3

Now,

Place (ii) and (iii) in (i), we get

2√(4 - √3) = √a + √b

On Squaring both sides, we get

(√a + √b)² = (2√4 - √3)²

⇒ a + b + 2√ab = 4(4 - √3)

⇒ a + b + 2√ab = 16 - 4√3

Therefore,

a + b = 16

Hope it helps!
