Ques - The sides of a triangle are 6.5cm, 7cm and 7.5 cm. A parallelogram, stands on side of length 7cm and has the same area as that of Triangle. Find the height of the parallelogram.

Solution - Sides of triangle = 6.5cm, 7cm and 7.5cm

Area of triangle can be found by Heron's formula

let a = 6.5cm

b = 7cm

c = 7.5cm

s = (a+b+c)/2

s = 6.5 + 7 + 7.5/2

s = 21/2 = 10.5cm

 \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}  \\  \\  \sqrt{10.5(10.5 - 6.5)(10.5 - 7)(10.5 - 7.5)}  \\  \\  \sqrt{10.5 \times 4 \times 3.5 \times 3}  \\  \\  \sqrt{441}  \\  \\  = 21cm {}^{2}

Area of triangle = 21 cm^2

Area of Parallelogram is also 21 cm^2

Area of triangle = Base × height = 21 cm^2

Given that Parallelogram stands on the side 7cm of triangle

So, base = 7cm

=> 7 × h = 21

h = 21/7

h = 3cm
