Let the quantity of milk in 60l of mixture = x

And amount of water in 60l of mixture = (60-x)

then \:  =  \frac{x}{60 - x}  =  \frac{2}{1}

By Cross multiply method

2(60 –x) = x

120 -2x = x

120 = x + 2x

120 =3x

120/3 = x

40 = x

or x = 40

Milk in mixture = 40 L

And water in mixture = 60 – 40

= 20 L

Now, let y litres of water to be further added

so  \frac{milk}{water}  =  \frac{1}{2}

 \frac{40}{20 + y}  =  \frac{1}{2}

By cross multiply method

40×2 = 20 +y

80 = 20 +y

80 -20 = y

60 = y

Or y =60

60 litres of water to be further added.
