• Many servants of the East India Company, who visited India during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, took a keen interest in natural history. At home, this period had already produced a series of distinguished naturalists, who methodically collected specimens and recorded them with the help of sensitive and delicate drawings.
• Private sector contributes about three-forth of the country's national income. Moreover, this sector also plays a vital role to increase gross domestic saving (CDS) and gross domestic capital formation'(GDCF) within the economy.
• The regulatory functions of the Government include (i) restraints on private activities, (ii) control of monopoly and big business, (iii) development of public enterprises as an alternative to private enterprises to ensure competitive dualism, (iv) maintenance of a proper socio-economic infrastructure.
• When in 1854 he sent a dispatch to Lord Dalhousie, the then Governor-General of India, Wood suggested that primary schools must adopt vernacular languages, high schools must adopt Anglo-vernacular language and at college-level English should be the medium of education.
